Superb and quite rare example of an exquisitely hand carved in really seldom seen high relief rectangular Marble Plaque depicting the “Battle of Trafalgar” scene of generous size, early Nineteenth Century, dated 1805
Inscription at bottom “ENGLAND EXPECTS EVERY MAN WILL DO HIS DUTY” to the rear a metal plaque which reads OCTOBER 1805 “We must never forget those who gave their lives at Trafalgar when our boats were made of wood and our men made of iron For God, King and Country Rear Admiral James Hawton”.
Condition: Good allover condition, with no losses anywhere, which is unusual for such an early piece of carved marble, nice surface patination.
